Sergio “Satch” Pecori, P.E., has been elected as a member of the National Academy of Construction’s class of 2018. Pecori, president and CEO of Hanson Professional Services Inc., joined Hanson after college in the mid-1970s as a field engineer. As president of the Springfield, Illinois-based firm for the past 20 years, he has led the company to its most recent recognition as a Top 500 Design Firm by ENR. During his career, he has managed and designed numerous complex projects, both domestically and internationally, and is highly regarded in the technical field. He served as chairman of the American Council of Engineering Companies in 2017–18.
Henry Rodriguez, P.E., from Lima, Ohio, earned his professional engineer license in September. Rodriguez is a stormwater engineer for the city of Lima and is a graduate of Carnegie Mellon University with a bachelor of science degree in civil engineering and a master’s in civil engineering from the University of Toledo. He was presented with his license at the Ohio Statehouse in a ceremony hosted by the Ohio Society of Professional Engineers and the State Board of Registration for Professional Engineers and Surveyors.
Urban Engineers has promoted Jared Krause, P.E., of Cherry Hill, New Jersey, to vice president and deputy general manager of facilities construction services. He previously served as a practice leader and project manager, providing special inspection services to clients in New York City. Krause has more than 12 years of experience in engineering design, construction management, and construction inspection on a range of projects. His most recent responsibilities have included overseeing the firm’s special inspection practice in New York City on projects at the Empire State Building, Facebook, Eli Lilly, Deloitte, and Etsy. Krause earned a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering and a master’s degree in engineering management from Rowan University.
The accreditation organization ABET has named Walter Buchanan, P.E., F.NSPE, an ABET Fellow for his leadership in accreditation activities that have created professional career paths for graduates of engineering technology programs, and the improvement of accreditation processes for institutions. Buchanan is a professor of electronic systems engineering technology at Texas A&M University and a past head of Engineering Technology and Industrial Distribution at A&M. He holds a B.A., J.D., and Ph.D. from Indiana University and a B.S.E. and M.S.E. from Purdue University.
Shepard Hockaday, P.E., has been inducted into the Alumni Hall of Fame for North Carolina State University’s Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering Department. With more than 30 years of experience, Hockaday is a senior vice president and the mechanical, electrical, and plumbing service line leader in the Raleigh, North Carolina, office of Dewberry, where he has worked since 2008. During his time with the firm, he has led a team of nearly 150 professionals across six offices on projects in the healthcare, commercial, industrial, higher education, and government sectors. Hockaday graduated from NC State in 1984 after studying mechanical engineering. He earned a master’s in mechanical engineering from the University of Florida before graduating from the Young Executives Institute in the Kenan Flagler Business School at the University of North Carolina.
Joe Reiter, P.E., an Engineer II in the Minot, North Dakota, office of Houston Engineering, has earned his PE license. He works in the water resources sector, designing water distribution components such as pipelines, pump systems, and elevated tanks. In addition, Reiter assists with construction management, construction coordination, and inspection. He is one of Houston Engineering’s certified drone pilots.
