Carrier has inducted Roger Gundlach, P.E., into the company’s Dealer Hall of Fame. The honor from the heating, air-conditioning, and refrigeration company recognizes dealers who “adhere to the highest standards in customer service and loyalty to the Carrier brand” and “celebrates years of outstanding work in the HVAC industry” as well as the community. Gundlach has worked for 44 years in the sheet metal and mechanical contracting business as an engineer and manager. He is the president of Gundlach Sheet Metal Works Inc. in Sandusky, Ohio, and a licensed engineer in Ohio and Tennessee. Gundlach graduated from Ohio University with a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering.
Richard Howard, P.E., public works director for the city of Orlando, Florida, and Larry Stevens, P.E., project director for HR Green Inc. in Johnston, Iowa, have been named among the American Public Works Association’s 2017 Top Ten Public Works Leaders. The program recognizes outstanding career service achievements from public works professionals in both the public and private sectors, including career advancement; contribution to technology or job knowledge; commitment to the profession as evidenced by education, training, certification, or registration and continuing education; and professional excellence and service to the community.
The American Academy of Environmental Engineers and Scientists has honored Merlyn Hough, P.E., of Springfield, Oregon, with the Stanley E. Kappe Award. The award is presented to the board-certified environmental engineer or scientist who has performed extraordinary service that advances public awareness to the betterment of the total environment. Hough is director of the Lane Regional Air Protection Agency, which is dedicated to improving air quality in Lane County. He holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Oregon State University and the University of Portland.
Francis Stanton Jr., P.E., F.NSPE, has been named a member of the Pennsylvania Registration Board for Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors, and Geologists. Stanton is vice president and principal engineer of the multidisciplinary ENC Group LLC in Richboro. He is 2016–17 chair of NSPE’s Board of Ethical Review, as well as past president of the Pennsylvania Society of Professional Engineers and recipient of its Professional Engineer of the Year and Dedicated Service awards. He was also past president of the Valley Forge Chapter of PSPE and the Union County Chapter of the New Jersey Society of Professional Engineers. He continues as a course evaluator for the Practicing Institute for Engineering Inc., which reviews courses and programs for New York’s professional engineering continuing education requirements. Stanton received his bachelor of mechanical engineering from Villanova University in 1981.
Josh Szymanski, P.E., has been promoted to chief strategy officer at Owen-Ames-Kimball Co., a professional construction firm in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Previously the firm’s director of business development, he has 16 years of experience in commercial construction and has been with the firm since 2014.
Szymanski will continue to oversee business development operations and has assumed responsibility for defining strategic internal initiatives. He will also guide clients throughout the programming and planning stages of projects. Szymanski holds a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from Michigan Technological University and a master’s in civil engineering from Purdue University.
