The National Council of Examiners for Engineering and Surveying has awarded Harold Williamson, P.E., Dale Jans, P.E., and Richard Hayter, P.E., with the NCEES Distinguished Examination Service Award for their service to the council and the engineering profession.

WilliamsonWilliamson helped write and review both the PE Chemical and PE Nuclear exams. He has also served on the PE Chemical Exam Development Committee, the PE Nuclear Exam Development Committee, the Washington State Board of Registration for Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors, and the NCEES Committee on Examinations for Professional Engineers. Williamson holds a bachelor of science in chemical engineering from Case Western Reserve University and a doctorate of pile engineering from the Oak Ridge School of Reactor Technology.

JansJans, who serves as vice president of Jans Corp., also received the Distinguished Service Award in 2003. He was the Central Zone vice president from 2009 to 2011 and NCEES president in 2011–2012. Jans has served on a number of NCEES committees, including chairing the Governance Task Force and the Committee on Finances and participating in the Advisory Committee on Council Activities. Jans represented NCEES as chair of Engineers Week 2013 and served as a judge for the Future City competition finals. He recently began his duties as chair of the Engineers Week 2018 Steering Committee.

HayterHayter retired from his position as the associate dean of engineering for external affairs of Kansas State University in 2009. He is a member of the Kansas Board of Technical Professions and has been a member of the NCEES Computer-Based Testing Implementation Task Force and the Committee on Education. He also served as Central Zone assistant vice president and was a member of the Engineering Education Award jury in 2015. Hayter is a past president and fellow of ASHRAE. He currently serves as a member of the Kansas Society of Professional Engineers Governmental Relations Committee.

Clyde Jundt, P.E.Clyde Jundt, P.E., was inducted in October into the South Dakota Transportation Hall of Honor, which recognizes individuals who have “made a lasting, valuable, or unique contribution to South Dakota’s air, highway, or rail transportation system.” Jundt retired from the state’s Department of Transportation in 1994 after 37 years. During his tenure, he was a passionate advocate for practical engineering solutions to link transportation corridors across the state. He was also one of the principal designers of the Keystone Wye and “pigtail” bridges on US Highway 16. Jundt earned a bachelor’s in civil engineering from the South Dakota School of Mines and Technology.

 Kristin Morico, P.E.The American Academy of Environmental Engineers and Scientists has named Kristin Morico, P.E., as the organization’s president-elect. Morico serves as the global leader of environmental programs at General Electric Co., and has an engineering career that spans over 30 years. She holds a BS in biology from Fairfield University, an MS in civil engineering from the University of Connecticut, a master of environmental management from Yale University, and an Executive MBA from the University of Connecticut.

Tim Austin, PE, FNSPETim Austin, P.E., F.NSPE, was recently elected as a member of the American Arbitration Association council. He previously served as president of NSPE and the Kansas Society of Professional Engineers as well as secretary for the Engineers’ Foundation of Kansas. He has been involved with the Wichita Area Builders Association, the Real Estate Department at Wichita State University, the Wichita Airport Advisory Board, and the Wichita Art and Design Council. Austin is also a member of the American Public Works Association and the Society of Automotive Engineers.
