Properly designed storm shelters can protect occupants during devastating tornadoes like the ones that hit Moore, Oklahoma, in May and Joplin, Missouri, in 2011. PEs at Texas Tech University are working hard to ensure that shelters do their job under deadly forces.

Each year, the Professional Liability Committee of NSPE’s Professional Engineers in Private Practice, in conjunction with the risk management committees of the American Institute of Architects and the American Council of Engineering Companies, conducts a survey and face-to-face interviews with representatives of companies serving the A/E professional liability insurance market.
