Who’s NSPE, You Ask? #IAMNSPE

I AM NSPEAll NSPE members have their own unique engineering journeys and perspectives on the profession. They come from different disciplines and different parts of the country and world. They come from different career stages, with different job titles, and from different demographic categories.

As diverse as NSPE members come, however, they share many similar attributes: dedication to professionalism, ethical practice, and the PE license, to name a few. Through the recently launched I AM NSPE social media campaign, the Society is celebrating these differences and similarities as well as the unity that comes from membership in the only organization founded solely for professional engineers.

Anali Martinez Gonzalez, E.I.T.The campaign highlights members like Anali Martinez Gonzalez, E.I.T., from Austin, Texas. Gonzalez, a member of NSPE’s Emerging Leaders Class of 2020, says she strives to “inspire the next generation of girls and women, especially Latinas, who want to be engineers one day.”

The civil engineer works for the Austin-based MWM Design Group and aspires to work into project management and leadership roles after earning a PE license.

While Gonzalez is just starting her career, Ben Amaba, P.E., has risen to the position of IBM’s global chief technology officer, and he’s a well-received conference speaker and promoter of STEM education and careers. Amaba, who holds a PhD in industrial and systems engineering, calls NSPE “the perfect venue to learn, network, and advance your skills.”

The campaign has already garnered positive reviews from NSPE members and state societies. And although members may have different views and come from different backgrounds, the campaign shows PEs can work together for the benefit of the profession.

If your state society has a member you want to highlight, please send their name and headshot to [email protected].
