EJCDC Publishes Guide to Construction Contracts

Professional engineers who work on contractual arrangements for construction projects now have a new guide that explains the intricacies of the 2018 EJCDC Construction Documents.

The guide (C-001 Commentary on the 2018 EJCDC Construction Documents) contains in-depth descriptions of each of the 25 documents in the construction series and explains their use. The commentary includes definitions of terms, cross-references and abbreviations, and a detailed discussion of terms and conditions.

NSPE members receive a 50% discount on EJCDC documents, including the commentary on construction documents.

The EJCDC construction series of documents are used on public and private projects and assumes the design engineer is involved during construction. Documents in this series include contracts for construction under design-bid-build and design-negotiate-build project delivery methods.

EJCDC’s 2018 C-Series Documents are endorsed by the Construction Specifications Institute for organizational format and consistency with the principles and recommended practices set forth in CSI’s various practice guidebooks.

The Engineers Joint Contract Documents Committee is a joint venture of NSPE, the American Council of Engineering Companies, and the American Society of Civil Engineers.
