  • Todd Musterait, P.E.Todd Musterait, P.E., has joined HDR as a technical program manager for industry in HDR’s Buffalo, New York, office. His new role will see him manage energy, water, wastewater, and sustainability for industry programs. Previously, Musterait had worked as director of energy and water management at Rich Products Corp., where he led sustainability initiatives. This involved the corporation’s Energy Star partnership, and he also contributed to the EPA’s Energy Star guide.
  • John Caruso, P.E.Passero Associates, in Rochester, New York, has announced a leadership transition. John Caruso, P.E., will be moving up from senior vice president to president of the firm. With 27 years of civil engineering experience, he has worked on residential, industrial, municipal, and commercial projects. He is principal in charge of Passero’s civil engineering department as well as the survey department. Caruso holds a bachelor’s in civil engineering from the State University of New York at Buffalo, and a bachelor’s in physics from SUNY at Cortland.
  • Carl Baldassarra, P.E.Earlier this year, Carl Baldassarra, P.E., took the office of president for the Society of Fire Protection Engineers. Professionally, he works as an executive vice president at Rolf Jensen & Associates in Chicago, and has previously been president of Schirmer Engineering Corp. (now Aon Fire Protection Engineering Corp.), where he worked for more than 35 years. Baldassarra has been on the board of directors for SFPE since 2005 and has been a member of his local Chicago chapter since 1973. His term will last through 2014.
  •  Wayne Wegman, P.EMoving from president to CEO is Wayne Wegman, P.E., who will focus on expanding the firm while maintaining its culture. Previously as president, Wegman worked as principal in charge of the airport design services department, where he was responsible for overseeing design and administration of all airport development projects. He has over 30 years of experience in this field, and he led the firm to become a regional leader in airport consulting services.
  • Scott McClure, P.E.Idaho State University’s chapter of the professional business fraternity Alpha Kappa Psi has named Scott McClure, P.E., as the 2014 Idaho Business Leader of the Year. The award recognizes Idaho business leaders who have demonstrated outstanding ethics while supporting community, civic, and education activities. McClure is the president and managing officer of McClure Engineering Inc. in Twin Falls, which provides mechanical, industrial, and structural engineering solutions. He founded the company in 1978.
  • Gary Passero, P.E.Finally, transitioning from CEO to founding partner is Gary Passero, P.E., who will help ensure that the firm’s future business is conducted according to its core values. A founding partner of Passero Associates, he has led the firm to work on such projects as the interchange between Interstates 490 and 590, development at the Greater Rochester International Airport, and the Monroe County Inter-Agency Public Works Facility. Passero has also been a finalist for the Small Business Person of the Year by the Small Business Council in both 2003 and 2010.
