NSPE Leads Coalition to Protect Professional Licensure

The National Society of Professional Engineers bolstered its efforts to protect professional licensing with the creation of the Alliance for Responsible Professional Licensing (ARPL), a new coalition of advanced professions dedicated to informing lawmakers and the public of the importance of rigorous professional licensing standards.

The Engineers Joint Contract Documents Committee Releases 2019 edition of the EJCDC® Procurement Family of Documents

The Engineers Joint Contract Documents Committee (EJCDC®) on June 14 released its 2019 edition of the EJCDC® Procurement Family of Documents. EJCDC documents are the first choice, and most user-friendly, among standard documents for infrastructure and public works construction in the United States. EJCDC documents are available to members of the National Society of Professional Engineers at a 50% discount.

NSPE Welcomes New Class of Fellow Members for 2019

Eleven outstanding professional engineers have been named to the 2019 class of Fellow members by the National Society of Professional Engineers. The Fellow membership grade honors those active NSPE members who have demonstrated exemplary and devoted service to their profession, the Society, and their community. Requirements for the designation include holding at least one elected office at any level and active involvement at the national level. This prestigious designation has been awarded to just over one percent of all NSPE members since the award was established in 2000.

Statement on Virginia Beach Shooting

While meeting in Alexandria, Va., the National Society of Professional Engineers (NSPE) Board of Directors was shocked and saddened to follow the news of the horrific shooting incident to our south in Virginia Beach. The loss of life is heartbreaking, and NSPE extends its condolences and sympathy to the Virginia Beach community, our nation, and our professional family.

The Engineers Joint Contract Documents Committee (EJCDC®) today released the 2018 edition of the EJCDC® Construction Family of Documents.  These new documents are intended for use on engineered construction projects in which the owner retains an engineering firm to prepare drawings and specifications, then separately engages a construction contractor to perform the work. The C-Series assumes the design Engineer is involved during construction.

To promote and protect the public health, safety, and welfare in the development and deployment of autonomous vehicle technologies, the National Society of Professional Engineers has just released its “Autonomous Vehicles: A Public Regulatory Policy Guide,” providing public policy decision makers, regulators, manufacturers, and others with guidelines to measure the safety readiness of autonomous vehicles under consideration for deployment.
