Harve Hnatiuk, P.E., F.NSPEAt the 2014 NSPE Annual Meeting in July, the Society installed Harve Hnatiuk, P.E., F.NSPE, as its president for the 2014–15 term.

Hnatiuk has been a member of the Society since 1980 and has held many leadership positions throughout that time. He’s served on the Executive Committee, the Board of Directors, and the House of Delegates. He’s chaired the Dues and Billing Standardization Task Force, the Critical Infrastructure and Homeland Security Task Force, the 2013 and 2014 Conference Task Forces, and he served as vice chair of the Legislative and Government Affairs Committee. In recognition for his years of service, Hnatiuk was named a Fellow of the Society in 2005.

The PE has also worked as point person on the Society’s Race for Relevance initiative, coordinating the work of seven task forces alongside Tim Austin, P.E., F.NSPE, the current NSPE president-elect. Regionally, he was president of the Pennsylvania Society of Professional Engineers (2006–07) as well as the Valley Forge chapter. PSPE named him Engineer of the Year in 2009.

Professionally, Hnatiuk works as vice president of Maida Engineering Inc., a multidiscipline firm based in Philadelphia that serves electrical, industrial, commercial, and HVAC clients all over the world. He earned his bachelor’s in electrical engineering from the University of Pennsylvania in 1974, and he received the school’s Alumni Award of Merit in 2012. Prior to Maida Engineering, which he joined in 1979, Hnatiuk worked with the Philadelphia Electric Co. as a transmission and distribution engineer.

The newly elected president is a member of the American Radio Relay League and has been a licensed amateur radio operator since the age of 13. He is also a member of IEEE, the Engineers’ Club of Philadelphia, and the Thoroughbred Owners and Breeders Association.
