Robert Slocum, P.E., has been appointed county administrator for Washington County, Maryland. He will handle daily operations of the county government and supervise and coordinate several departments and agencies. Slocum, who has worked for the county since 2002, previously served as director of the county’s Division of Engineering and Construction Management. He also coordinated the work of the division, to provide safe, timely, and cost-effective results while ensuring programs follow county, state, and federal regulations. Slocum earned a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from the University of Arizona.
The American Institute of Steel Construction has named Mark Trimble, P.E., its new vice president of certification. AISC certifies more than 1,400 fabricators, erectors, and manufacturers of buildings, bridges, bridge components, and hydraulic structures. Trimble previously was a vice president at Huntington Steel & Supply Co. He is a graduate of the University of Kentucky and has served on the board of directors for both AISC and the West Virginia Society of Professional Engineers.
Stephen Cheney, P.E., and Thomas Hennelly, P.E., have been inducted into the Arkansas Academy of Civil Engineering, which recognizes civil engineering graduates from the University of Arkansas who have made significant contributions to the field.
Cheney is a senior associate and program manager at the AEC firm STV Inc. Before joining STV, he worked for Bell, Burrough, and Uerling Consulting Engineers and the American Oil Company, and in the pharmaceutical industry. Cheney earned a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from the University of Arkansas as well as a master’s degree in international management from Webster University.
Hennelly is vice president of private development at the design firm Crafton Tull, in Rogers, Arkansas. During his career, he has worked on military, local municipal, commercial, and residential projects. Hennelly also served a 14-month tour as the senior engineer for the special inspector general for Afghanistan reconstruction. In this position, he was responsible for numerous engineering audits of US taxpayer-funded projects throughout the country.
RGS Associates Inc., a Pennsylvania-based consulting firm, has announced that Len Bradley, P.E., has been named an associate of the firm. In this new role, Bradley will work on implementing quality assurance and quality control standards and evaluation methods, developing and implementing technical training programs, and managing postconstruction client services. Bradley began working for RGS Associates in 2010 and previously held the position of supervisor of engineering. He earned a bachelor of science in civil engineering from the University of Cincinnati.
Ja-Mie Luey, P.E., has joined STV Inc., an engineering, architectural, planning, environmental, and construction management services firm, as vice president and West Coast rail and transit systems lead. He will be responsible for technical excellence, project delivery, and talent acquisition, and based in Beaverton, Oregon. Previously at a large transportation design firm, Luey has helped develop new light rail and transit systems throughout North and South America and has 15 years of experience as a project and engineering manager. He is a licensed PE in Oregon, Washington, California, and 11 other US states and territories. Luey earned a BS in electrical engineering from Oregon State University.
