Future City Program Visits White House

Pictured with Bill Nye the Science Guy is Tanner Schantz (left) and Joshua Troutman, one of two Future City competition teams who presented their projects at the 2014 White House Science Fair. The team from Bismarck, North Dakota, is pictured with their city Whitewater Crossing, which uses a monorail to solve transportation problems stemming from mountainous terrain. Representing Carrie’s Kids, an after-school program helping at-risk and homeless children, the team won the Future City Minnesota regional people’s choice award. Also at the White House fair was the team from the Albuquerque Academy in New Mexico.

The Future City competition is a DiscoverE initiative.
