Engineers’ Job Confidence Tops the Charts

two men shaking handsAlthough the overall confidence of US engineers about their jobs and employers slightly decreased in late 2013, their confidence level is the highest among all industries, according to a survey by Harris Poll for Randstad Engineering.

  • 60% of engineers feel confident in their ability to find a new job, falling only one percentage point from the third quarter of 2013.

  • 86% of engineers report they are not likely to lose their jobs over the next 12 months, a five percentage point increase from the third quarter of 2013.

  • jobs61% of engineers reported they are not likely to look for a new job within the next 12 months—the highest percentage across all sectors surveyed.

The survey, conducted at various times from September through December 2013, covered 4,138 adults ages 18 and older, of which 120 were employed in engineering.
