It is the policy of the National Society of Professional Engineers (NSPE) to support the continued development of a strong National Science Foundation (NSF) dedicated to furthering basic research in the sciences and engineering. Further, NSPE believes NSF should continue to:

  1. Support engineering education as well as research.
  2. Promote programs that incorporate educational and research objectives.
  3. Maximize available funding for its mission through multidisciplinary research utilizing non-federal forms of support.
  4. Expand engineering membership on the National Science Board and its Executive Committee to achieve the optimum balance of NSF programs in science and in engineering.
