NSPE’s Advocacy Center includes a resource designed to make it easier for members to schedule meetings with their U.S. Representative.
Meeting directly with lawmakers and their staff is one of the most effective ways for Professional Engineers, engineering students, and others in the engineering community to build relationships with congressional offices and help policymakers better understand issues affecting engineering practice and public safety. Congressional staff play a central role in shaping policy and advising elected officials, making these conversations an important part of the legislative process.
The tool allows members to request an in district meeting through a simple online form. Once submitted, the system generates a customizable meeting request that can be sent directly to the congressional office.
In addition to helping initiate the meeting, the resource provides guidance to help members prepare for the conversation, including background materials and information on issues relevant to engineering practice.
NSPE’s Government Relations team is also available to assist members who are interested in meeting with congressional offices and can help coordinate conversations with lawmakers and staff. The resource is available through NSPE’s Advocacy Center and is part of the organization’s ongoing effort to support member engagement with policymakers at the federal level.
