It is the policy of NSPE that licensed professional engineers practice ethically. NSPE recognizes that licensed professional engineers are held to a high standard by their obligation to society to practice in a manner that holds paramount public health, safety, and welfare. NSPE proactively encourages licensed professional engineers to adhere to the canons of the NSPE Code of Ethics for Engineers (NSPE Publication 1102). NSPE encourages licensed professional engineers to participate in regular ethics-related continuing education to maintain current knowledge of ethics expectations. NSPE volunteers and related business entities are encouraged to implement this policy in relevant position statements, operating procedures, and business practices.
