It is the policy of NSPE to support emerging technologies in a manner that protects the health, safety, and welfare of the public through rigorous development, testing, and deployment of emerging technologies involving licensed professional engineers at each step of development. NSPE recognizes the benefits of continued research and development that safely advances emerging technology while minimizing risk. NSPE volunteers and related business entities are encouraged to implement this policy in relevant position statements, operating procedures, and business practices.
