Road to the Summit: NSPE Volunteer Leadership Development
Empower | Educate | Energize
Note: The Final Summit was held on June 24, 2021. Thanks to everyone who participated.
Why
The NSPE Strategic Plan has identified the need to focus on volunteer leader development, resources, and engagement. NSPE volunteers are key to the successful execution of our goals to: drive growth; shape public policy; educate for the future; and promote diversity and tomorrow’s engineer. Key to this is effective leadership that can clearly communicate the value of membership to members and non-members alike.
Therefore, it is essential that NSPE develop an ongoing volunteer leader training program that provides not only a strong understanding of the features and benefits of membership to NSPE, but also the managerial and communication soft skills which can enhance the opportunity for success.
Who
The target of the program is new volunteer leaders at the state and national levels, or those who want to learn new best practices. NSPE state societies are encouraged to promote the program to their chapter leaders and their future state leaders.
What
The Road to the Summit program will empower, educate, and energize NSPE leadership by creating strong ties between leaders across the country. Thereby, providing a greater understanding of the resources available to them in achieving the organization’s strategic goals of growing membership, enhancing the profession, and acting in the public good.
