Statement of Interest

I am delighted to express my interest in serving as NSPE’s New Professionals Director. As a licensed Professional Engineer within my first ten years of licensure and a passionate advocate for leadership development, inclusion, and the future of our profession, I see this position as a unique opportunity to elevate the voices of early-career engineers while continuing to serve the organization that has given me so much.

Over the past several years, I have actively contributed to NSPE’s mission through multiple roles. I currently serve as Co-Chair of the NSPE New Professionals Committee, where I’ve worked alongside peers to make NSPE more welcoming and valuable to our new professionals. I’ve also participated in the NSPECon Presentation Review Team (2023, 2025), helping curate diverse and relevant programming. In 2023, I presented “Finding Funds for Your Infrastructure Project” at NSPECon and followed up with a related article, “Do the Funds Fit?”, published in PE Magazine. I will return to NSPECon 2025 to facilitate “Growing Careers with Growing Families” and participate as a panelist in “The Mentorship Playbook.”

My journey with NSPE began with the Emerging Leaders Program (2020–2021), a transformative experience that emphasized the importance of professional advocacy and cross-generational mentorship. I later served as a mentor to Emerging Leaders, meeting monthly with participants to support their growth, address challenges, and help shape their leadership paths. Through this experience, I gained a deep understanding of the needs, concerns, and aspirations of early-career engineers—and a passion for advocating on their behalf.

In addition to my national involvement, I remain deeply engaged at the local level. I currently serve as 2nd Vice President of MSPE’s Western Chapter and have held prior roles in both the Western and Flint Chapters, including Secretary, Director, and Vice President. These roles have allowed me to lead outreach initiatives, design public engagement materials, revamp communications, and help coordinate efforts like Engineering Day and MATHCOUNTS.

Across every leadership engagement, I bring a collaborative mindset, a strategic vision, and an enthusiasm for building community. I understand the time and energy required of the New Professionals Director role and have the support of my employer and professional network to meet these expectations. I also bring strong communication skills, a familiarity with NSPE governance, and a commitment to ensuring that early-career engineers see themselves reflected and empowered in our profession.

NSPE has shaped my leadership journey, and I want to give back by shaping its future. This role is about more than just representation; it’s about action, connection, and service. If elected, I will work hard to elevate the voices of new professionals, strengthen our community’s pipeline, and ensure that NSPE remains a space where engineers at every career stage can thrive.

Thank you for your consideration.
