Statement of Interest

I have over thirteen years of activity in the Tennessee Society of Professional Engineers, and have served on all levels. Starting as a volunteer on a Knoxville Chapter committee, I knew I had found an organization that is very important to our professional community. As noted in the attached history of service, I have been a chapter director, vice president, and president, and have moved on to TSPE state director, secretary, vice president, president-elect, and finally State president. Most recently I have served as the NSPE HOD Representative for Tennessee.

I believe that even though TSPE is a non-integrated state, it is in the interest of both TSPE and NSPE to continue to interact and coordinate on issues important to the profession. In serving as Tennessee HOD Representative, I hope to continue to bridge the gap between the organizations and serve as a conduit for communication.

WHY AARON?

Mr. Crenshaw has been an active member of TSPE for over 13 years from committee involvement in the Knoxville Chapter to President of the State Board of TSPE. Over this time he has gathered connections across the professional community in the state and has a thorough knowledge of TSPE and it's activities.

TSPE EXPERIENCE

2011: Knoxville Chapter Banquet Committee Member - Helped organize the Engineer's Week banquet for over 250 people.

2012 - 2015: Knoxville Chapter Banquet Committee Chair - Lead the committee in the organization of the Engineer's Week banquet. Revamped the banquet to become a fundraiser for Chapter grant and scholarship programs. Raised over $27,000 for the programs.

2012 - 2014: Chapter Director, Knoxville Chapter - Revamped Engineer's Week banquet to become a fundraiser.

2014 - 2015: Vice President, Knoxville Chapter - Started the Knoxville Chapter college scholarship program for juniors and seniors in an accredited Tennessee engineering program. Coordinated speakers for 10 chapter meetings.

2015 - 2016: President, Knoxville Chapter - Coordinated 10 chapter meetings and oversaw the activities for the 200+ member chapter.

2016 - 2018: Knoxville State Director, TSPE State Board - Represented the Knoxville Chapter on the State Board.

2018 - 2019: Secretary, TSPE State Board - Took notes for all State Board meetings and coordinated state-wide correspondence.

2020 - 2022: Vice President, TSPE State Board - Due to Covid, served 2 terms in this position.

2022 - 2023: President Elect, TSPE State Board - During this time, the State Board became a volunteer-led organization with a contract lobbyist.

2023 - 2024: President, TSPE State Board - Continuing the volunteer led State organization.

2024 - Present: NSPE House of Delegates, TN Representative - the link between TSPE and NSPE.
