The National Society of Professional Engineers (NSPE) has welcomed seven (7) professional engineers to its 2025 class of Fellow members. The Fellow designation honors active NSPE members who have demonstrated exemplary and devoted service to their profession, the Society, and their community. Requirements for the title include holding at least one elected office at any level and active involvement at the national level.
Among this year’s distinguished honorees is Jennifer Nolan-Kremm, P.E., from Pennsylvania. Nolan-Kremm has been a dedicated member of NSPE and the Pennsylvania Society of Professional Engineers (PSPE) for many years. She is the hydraulics lead at HDR for the Pennsylvania, West Virginia, and Delaware areas. As the leader of projects for multiple clients, she works hard to ensure that projects of all scales are completed and delivered in a timely and responsible manner. Her areas of expertise involve drainage system design; erosion and sediment pollution control design; hydrology and hydraulic analyses; stormwater management design; and National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System and waterway permits.
Nolan-Kremm has volunteered extensively and has honed her leadership skills on various endeavors for NSPE, PSPE, and the Pittsburgh Chapter of PSPE. She has served as second vice president (2012-2013), vice president (2013-2014), and president of the Pittsburgh Chapter (2015). At the state level, she was Western Region vice president (2016-2020) and state president (2021-2022). Since 2012, she has devoted much time to the local MATHCOUNTS activities, including serving as the MATHCOUNTS cochair for the Pittsburgh Chapter in 2023. Along the way, she has served on various committees and conferences, where she has demonstrated strong attention to detail, flexibility, and excellent interpersonal skills that have earned her the respect and admiration of her colleagues.
Nolan-Kremm is also an active member of other organizations that have a reach in the engineering profession — the American Society of Civil Engineers, the University of Pittsburgh Civil Engineering Alumni Club, the American Society of Highway Engineers (ASHE), and the Engineers’ Society of Western Pennsylvania.
Nolan-Kremm has garnered many accolades throughout her career. In 2011, she was named Young Engineer of the Year by the Pittsburgh Chapter of PSPE. She is also a three-time winner of HDR’s Pathfinder Award for her work with the Balls Bend Design Team (2021), the KY 100 Bridges Design Build Team (2021), and the Fern Hollow Emergency Bridge Replacement (2023). Since early 2024, Jennifer has been a participant in the company’s Professional Associates Program, which recognizes employees who have distinguished themselves as technical or creative professionals with deep mastery of their craft.
NSPE state and territorial societies can nominate one person for each 500 voting members on their rolls per year. Nominations are also open to NSPE interest groups, chartered affinity groups, and the Board of Directors. Since its establishment in 2000, around one percent of all NSPE members have advanced to this highest rank in volunteer membership.
“It is with great enthusiasm that we recognize this year’s class of Fellows, who have been selected by their peers for exceptional and dedicated service at the chapter, state, and national levels of NSPE,” says NSPE President Brian Malm, P.E., F.NSPE. “NSPE is proud of their accomplishments and indelible mark on the engineering profession, the Society, and their communities. We look forward to their continued leadership and contributions.”
