An Impressive Professional Journey

At Stantec, Hachil designs a wide variety of projects such as commercial buildings, high-rise buildings, railroads, schools, university campuses, distribution centers, emergency service buildings, hospitals, rehabilitation centers, water districts, wastewater districts, defense, pharmaceutical, LEED accredited buildings, transportation projects, airports, manufacturing facilities, and public parks. He has completed projects (which can range up to 1,000,000 square feet and with approximately a $500 million budget) across multiple U.S. states including New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Pennsylvania, Colorado, Florida, California, and Nevada. As a lead design engineer on these large projects, Hachil must make quick decisions and tough calls. He successfully coordinates a large team of architects, engineers of various disciplines, project managers, subconsultants, clients, contractors, manufacturers, and regulatory boards.

Hachil’s technical expertise and passion for sustainability have led to his role on Stantec’s Developing Professionals Group - Sustainability Committee. He has designed a LEED Gold Project for Nassau Community College. He has also designed electric vehicle charging stations for cars, buses, and commercial trucks throughout New York, Massachusetts, and Illinois. Currently, Hachil is part of a team designing a LEED Silver Project for Stony Brook Hospital and is also involved in the renovation of the Grand Central Terminal, which will support the design of what will be the largest skyscraper in New York City Midtown East.

Hachil started his professional career at H2M Architects and Engineers in 2016 after earning a bachelor’s degree in electrical and computer engineering from Farmingdale State College. During his three-year tenure, he built the experience to become a lead engineer. He worked with junior staffers on projects for water districts, wastewater districts, emergency service buildings, commercial buildings, rehabilitation centers, schools, natatoriums, and LEED accredited buildings. He earned a master’s degree in electrical and computer engineering with a concentration in control systems from New York Institute of Technology (NYIT) in 2019. He became a licensed professional engineer in 2022 and maintains licenses in New York, Nevada, and Mississippi.
