A Family Edu-vacation

JJ Rohrer and family visited the Space Shuttle Discovery at the National Air and Space Museum Steven F. Udvar-Hazy center in Chantilly, Virginia. |
JJ Rohrer, founder and president of Ascendly—an after-school engineering program for elementary school students—regularly incorporates engineering into his family vacations. His third-grader son wanted to go to Dubai to see Burj Khalifa, the tallest building in the world. While that's not currently possible, Rohrer says the family is planning a summer trip to visit relatives in Michigan and is hoping to hit Chicago's Willis Tower and maybe a car manufacturing facility along the way.
Rohrer would love to start a movement to take school kids to visit local engineering, science, and technology companies and structures after school or on weekends.
