NSPE is saddened by the pedestrian bridge collapse at Florida International University and the tragic loss of life. As PEs, we value the public’s health, safety, and welfare above all else, and our deepest condolences go out to the victims, their families, and the citizens of Miami at this time. NSPE is closely monitoring the investigation into the collapse. We need to determine the root cause so that, as PEs, we can prevent crises like this from occurring again in the future.
