For the first time, the National Research Council's Framework for K–12 Science Education recommends including engineering in science standards. The report identifies key scientific ideas and practices all students should learn by the end of high school and will serve as the foundation for the first new K–12 science education standards in 10 years, influencing curricula, teacher training programs, informal education, and assessments.
