Why did you choose engineering?
I really enjoy problem solving and figuring out how to make things work.
What’s the most fulfilling part of your career?
Working with other talented people to take ideas in our heads and turn them into reality.
What advice would you give to anyone considering becoming a PE?
Do it. The effort pays off for what it adds to your career and the profession.
What career or leadership advice would you give to a recent engineering graduate and younger PEs?
Get involved with others in the profession and soak up as much knowledge as you can early in your career.
How does ethics/protection of the public health, safety, and welfare factor in the work you do?
There is a constant balance of client or owner request to keep costs down while still considering and protecting the ultimate end user (the public).
If you could ask your PE peers to help you with one thing, what would that be?
How are other engineers and firms adapting with the quick onset of AI.
Why did you join NSPE?
I joined somewhat early in my career to be exposed to a larger engineering community as well as to promote and protect the engineering profession.
What do you enjoy the most about being an NSPE member?
The exposure I receive to issues and ideas from peers across the country.
Planning to attend NSPECon26 in New York City August 5-7 this year?
Yes!
Hobbies
I enjoy a variety of hobbies, most of which involve either being outside or tinkering in my shop.
What are some fun facts about you?
I'm trying to visit all the US National Parks. American Samoa and Northern Alaska are making it hard to finish off the list.
