National Society of Professional Engineers Installs New Officers for 2014–15

The National Society of Professional Engineers recently elected and installed two new national officers and several new members to the Society’s Board of Directors during its  annual meeting in Washington, D.C. 

Elected to the Society’s Board of Directors were Kodi Jean Church, P.E., Esq., F.NSPE, from Elk River, Minn., as the Society’s vice president, and Neal T. Wright, P.E., F.NSPE, from Norfolk, Va., as the director, membership at large. Church is an associate in the energy section at the law firm of Briggs and Morgan. Prior to joining Briggs in 2009, she was an environmental engineer for a Minnesota electric utility company.  For the Minnesota Society of Professional Engineers, Church has served as secretary/treasurer and president, in addition to other positions. At the national level, she is a member of the Society’s Board of Directors. She also served in the House of Delegates, chaired a task force to revise the NSPE bylaws and reorganize the operating procedures, and chaired the 2013–14 NSPE Membership committee. She will become president of the Society in 2016–17.

Wright is the vice president, Department of Defense market segment leader, and office principal for Dewberry in its Virginia Beach office where he leads initiatives for delivering services to the U.S. Department of Defense engineering agencies including the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Naval Facilities Engineering Command, and other Air Force, Coast Guard, and DOD agencies. Prior to coming to Dewberry in 2010, Wright held vice president positions at both AECOM and Michael Baker Jr. Inc. He also served over 22 years in the U.S. Army, retiring as a lieutenant colonel and completing his military career as the deputy district commander for the Baltimore District, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. 

NSPE also welcomed and installed several additional members to its Board of Directors. They include:

  • Brian H. Armstrong, P.E., F.NSPE, from Topeka, Kan., Director, North Central Region;
  • Gregory F. Brands, P.E., F.NSPE, from Post Falls, Idaho, Director, Western & Pacific Region;
  • Christopher D. Jones, P.E., F.NSPE, from Madison, Miss., Director, Southeast Region;
  • David A. Janover, P.E., F.NSPE, from Islip Terrace, N.Y., Director, Interest Group;
  • Joseph A. Simonetta, CAE, from Trenton, N.J., President, State Society Executives Council; and
  • Stephen L. Dyrnes, P.E., F.NSPE, from Bay City, Ore., Chair, NICET Board of Governors.
