Drone Applications for Engineers

This introductory course presents engineering applications where drones can save money over conventional methods of data gathering.  Surveying, construction monitoring, bridge & infrastructure inspection topics are covered, as are the basics of drone flying and video editing.

The Federal Aviation Administration recently issued its part 107 rules for small unmanned aircraft system drones. Remote pilot engineers flying for commercial pay or profit must be certified after passing that 107 FAA test.Taking this FAA test and adhering to rules and privacy concerns will be discussed.Business flight missions meeting these standards (not hobbyist flying) are emphasized. A drone will be demonstrated, but not flown in the classroom.
