Ghost in the Machine: A Workshop on Engineering and Emerging Technology

How can PEs take an active role in leading the technological changes that emerging technologies bring? Can engineering ethics be “designed in” to the new technologies impacting society? How will these existing technologies impact the traditional work of the PE?
This interactive session will provide an overview of emerging technologies, their impact to fields traditionally led by PEs, and how PEs can lead and adapt to this changing technological environment. It will focus on introducing the basic principles of emerging technologies and what professional engineers can do to stay involved and lead the conversation, including introductory overviews of artificial Intelligence, the internet of things, machines and automation.
