A Comparison of Collaborative Delivery Methods

Design-build is often used as a catch-all phrase to cover a variety of alternative delivery systems that are available to utilities across the country. In truth, these delivery systems are all very different in what benefits they offer an owner, and what challenges they can present. This presentation will cover a short list of the most common types of collaborative delivery used in water and wastewater projects. We will address the pros and cons of each approach, with feedback from the audience as a key component of the presentation. Topics will also include the role of bridging documents, as well as the role of the Owner’s Engineer in the project team. Through the course of our discussion, we will take a closer look at how alternative delivery is managed for projects receiving funding through revolving loan fund programs.
