Mark J. Golden, FASAE, CAE

Mark J. Golden, FASAE, CAEMark J. Golden, FASAE, CAE was appointed executive director of the National Society of Professional Engineers on January 31, 2013. Mr. Golden most recently served as the executive director and chief executive officer of the National Court Reporters Association, where he also served as the vice president of the International Federation for Information and Communication Processing, Brussels, representing the U.S. within this international federation. Before joining NCRA in 1998, Mr. Golden spent eight years with the Personal Communications Industry Association directing PCIA’s legislative, regulatory, and industry development activities. He also spent 12 years with the Association of Telemessaging Services International, where he created government relations programs focused on enhanced communication services.

Long active in the association community, Mr. Golden is a past vice chairman of the board of directors of the American Society of Association Executives (ASAE) and past chairman of the ASAE Foundation. He has served in numerous other capacities within those organizations. He has contributed to many association-related strategic research studies and publications, including the best-selling "Seven Measures of Success: What Remarkable Associations Do That Others Don’t," and he has been a frequent speaker and author on issues of not-for-profit organizational management, strategic planning, advocacy, and organizational development.

Mr. Golden is a Fellow of ASAE, and is also the recipient of the Key Award, ASAE’s highest honor, given in recognition of an association CEO who "demonstrates exceptional qualities of leadership in his or her own association, and displays a deep commitment to voluntary membership organizations as a whole."

An honors graduate of the University of Virginia, Mr. Golden holds degrees in English and theater.
