National Society of Professional Engineers Installs New Officers for 2013-14

The National Society of Professional Engineers recently elected and installed two new national officers and several new members to the Society's Board of Directors during its annual meeting in Minneapolis.

Elected to national office were Timothy R. Austin, P.E., F.NSPE, from Wichita, Kan., as the Society's vice president, and Julia M. Harrod, P.E., F.NSPE, from Austin, Texas, as the Society's treasurer. Both were also installed as members of NSPE's Board of Directors. Austin works for Poe & Associates Inc., specializing in commercial and real estate development. He is a past president of the Kansas Society of Professional Engineers and a former member of the NSPE Board of Directors and House of Delegates. He currently chairs the NSPE Membership Committee and the Delivery Systems, Communication & Technology Task Force. He will become president of the Society in 2015–16.&

Harrod is president of MWM Design Group and has been an active member of the Texas Society of Professional Engineers and NSPE for more than 15 years. She has served as president of the TSPE, among many other positions, and at NSPE she most recently chaired the Membership Retention Task Force.

NSPE also welcomed and installed several additional members to its Board of Directors. They include:

  • Amy Barrett, P.E., LEED AP, from Evansville, Ind., Director, Central Region;
  • John J. Martin, P.E., F.NSPE, from Johnson City, N.Y., Director, Northeast Region;
  • Karen L. Farley, P.E., from Casper, Wyo., Director, Southwest Region;
  • David A. Rockstraw, Ph.D., P.E., from Las Cruces, N.M., Director, Interest Group;
  • D. Scott Wolf, P.E., PLS, F.NSPE, from New Carrollton, Md., Director, Young Engineers;
  • Leanne H. Panduren, P.E., F.NSPE, from Lapeer, Mich., President, NSPE Educational Foundation; and
  • Dawn Edgell, P.E., from Aurora, Ill., Chair, NICET Board of Governors.
