Austin is the Immediate Past Chair of the NSPE Professional Engineers in Industry (PEI) (2014–15) group and previously served on the NSPE Board as the National Director - Young Engineers (2011–13). He also serves at the regional and national levels within the American Society for Quality (ASQ). In 2013, ASQ named Austin as the recipient of the Feigenbaum Medal, the Society's highest international honor for a young professional.
He previously worked for over 14 years at Procter & Gamble in engineering and global supply chain quality roles within the company's chemical fragrances and Duracell batteries businesses. He currently works in the tech industry in the San Francisco Bay Area.
Austin is certified as a Quality Engineer (CQE) and Six Sigma Black Belt (CSSBB) by the American Society for Quality and is registered as an EIT in the State of Georgia. He holds a B.S. in chemical engineering from Johns Hopkins University.
