The Miner Alumni Association of the Missouri University of Science and Technology has presented James Foil, P.E., with the Frank H. Mackaman Alumni Volunteer Service Award. As senior vice president and general manager for Burns & McDonnell, Foil oversees much of the planning, design, and construction for numerous projects, including water supply and stormwater infrastructure. He earned bachelor's and master's degrees in civil engineering from Missouri S&T.
Margaret Banks, P.E., Ph.D., has been named to two positions: dean of the Dwight Look College of Engineering at Texas A&M, and vice chancellor of engineering for the Texas A&M University system. Her past experience includes service at two land-grant institutions and her current stint as head of the school of civil engineering for Purdue University. Her doctorate in civil and environmental engineering is from Duke University.
Bernard Berson, P.E., F.NSPE, was recently inducted into the University of Connecticut's Academy of Distinguished Engineers. A practicing forensic engineer in New Jersey, Berson also served as NSPE president in 200708. In addition to his professional and service work, Berson is author of the book Career Success in Engineering, a guide for students and young employees.

The Kentucky League of Cities has named Sam Baker, P.E., as the City Employee of the Year for his work in Maysville. Baker was nominated for his cost-efficiency and willingness to help colleagues. The award comes with a donation to the charity of his choice, and Baker selected the Maysville Players Summer Youth Theater Experience.
Randy Larson, P.E., has joined PSI in Oakbrook Terrace, Illinois, as president and member of the firm's executive management team. Larson has more than 35 years of engineering and construction experience. He previously served as president of infrastructure, water, and environment at Atkins, and was a member of the board of directors for PBS&J. Larson has also served three terms as city commissioner of Plant City, Florida.
John Dix, P.E., has joined the Warren County Water District in Kentucky as manager of engineering and construction. He'll be responsible for system planning, design, and construction for three districts, where he was previously employed in the 1990s as project engineer and then manager of operations. Dix has also worked as a consultant and held the position of vice president at Cannon & Cannon Inc.
