Fair and Objective Engineering Documents Get an Update
EJCDC Releases New Construction Series Documents

ALEXANDRIA, VA. (August 23, 2007)— For the first time since 2002, the Engineers Joint Contract Document Committee has updated the entire Construction Series Documents and the National Society of Professional Engineers made them available for purchase beginning August 13, 2007. EJCDC has been producing these documents for over 30 years, and they are widely recognized as the most fair and objective documents in the engineering, construction, and design-build industries.

"These revisions to the 2002 version of the documents follow in EJCDC's tradition of setting the industry standard for customizable engineering design and construction contract documents," said NSPE Director of Professional Practice, Kim Granados. "These documents are a must-have for your engineering and construction projects."

The construction series includes these widely-used documents

    * C-700 – Standard General Conditions of the Construction Contract;
    * C-520 – Suggested Form of Agreement Between Owner and Contractor for Construction Contract (Stipulated Price);
    * C-525 – Suggested Form of Agreement Between Owner and Contractor for Construction Contract (Cost Plus); and
    * C-620 – Contractor's Application for Payment (now in an easy to use Excel format).

Each EJCDC contract document is prepared by experienced engineering design and construction professionals, owners, contractors, professional liability and risk management experts, and legal counsel. EJCDC includes NSPE's Professional Engineers in Private Practice and the participation of more than 18 other professional engineering design, construction, owner, legal, and risk management organizations.

"Saying the EJCDC's documents' reputation precedes them is an understatement. Over 90% of our clients use them because the documents are well known for being fair, and all parties know what to expect," said Joseph W. Eberle, P.E., of Ruekert/Mielke Inc. in Waukesha , Wis. "Consistently using them also allows us to train our people to a higher level of quality, resulting in lower liability exposure for our firm."

EJCDC documents are immediately downloadable in MS Word format, are user-friendly, and their usability for multiple projects makes them a cost-saving alternative to other documents on the market. They are also peer created and consistently reviewed, meaning users get the most balanced, fair, and updated documents available on a continual basis.

In addition to the newly updated construction documents, EJCDC offers contract documents in the following categories: owner/engineer; engineer/subconsultant; funding agency editions; commentaries, references, procurement and multiprime; and design-build. NSPE members enjoy a significant discount on the cost for the documents, which can be immediately purchased and downloaded at www.nspe.org/ejcdc/home.asp.

The National Society of Professional Engineers is the national society of engineering professionals from all disciplines that promotes the ethical and competent practice of engineering, advocates licensure, and enhances the image and well-being of its members. Founded in 1934, NSPE serves more than 44,000 members and the public through 53 state and territorial societies and more than 500 chapters.
