West joined the staff in 1998 after graduating from Texas Tech University with bachelor's and master's degrees in civil engineering. He has been a professional engineer in Texas since 2002, and was named a corporate associate for the firm in 2005. West's team, located across three offices, is actively working on approximately 90 projects from planning and design through construction. As part of the office management in Midland, he oversees the recruitment, employee development, and coordination issues for staff in the civil engineering division.

He is also active in NSPE, currently serving as the young engineer representative on the Board of Directors and the Continuity Task Force. He was selected as the 2009 Young Engineer of the Year by TSPE and was awarded the NSPE PEPP Merit Award in 2006.

Apart from his professional endeavors, West is active in his community by serving on the City of Midland Parks and Recreation Commission, the Midland Vision 2020 Area Development Committee, and the previous mayor's Generation WOW Committee.
