President 2009–10
Samuel W. Grossman, P.E., F.NSPE, was the 2009–10 president of the National Society of Professional Engineers.
Active in NSPE since 1990, Grossman's service has included membership on the Board of Directors as a regional vice president, chair of the Finance & Audit Committee, and chair of the Special Advisory Group to the Executive Director. Grossman has been a member of the NSPE Educational Foundation Board of Trustees, the Leader Development Task Force, the Products & Services Task Force, the Membership Committee, and the Future Directions Task Force, to name just a few. He was president of the Diablo Chapter of the California Society of Professional Engineers and served as CSPE President from 2001–03. He is a recipient of the CSPE President's Award and the CSPE Outstanding Leadership Award. In 2004, Grossman was named a Fellow member of NSPE, in recognition of his many contributions to the Society and the engineering profession.
During Grossman's engineering career, he has served as project executive with the City of Vernon, California; director of construction with the Calpine Corp.; vice president of WRMS Engineering; cofounder and managing principal of NPG Engineering; and in numerous management positions with Pacific Gas and Electric Co. He is currently a manager with Chevron's Global Real Estate Services.
He is a graduate of the University of the Pacific in Stockton, California, where he earned a B.S. in civil engineering. He has been a licensed professional engineer in California since 1990.
In his spare time, Grossman has volunteered with the MATHCOUNTS program, served as a church youth group leader, and has served as assistant scoutmaster of Troop 36 in Danville. He currently resides in Danville, California with his wife, Nancy, also an engineer with Chevron. They are the very proud parents of two grown children, Sarah and Sam Jr.
